Fremantle mayor Brad Pettitt is confident the Dockers’ grand final shindig in the heart of Fremantle won’t turn ugly, with pubs opening at 7am. The council expects more than 20,000 to descend on the strip Saturday, where they’ll be glued to one of three giant LED TVs. Another will be be placed in Kings Square for families who want to stay clear of the purple army.
“The City of Fremantle has asked that venues hold off serving alcohol (and especially without a meal) until a more suitable hour like 11am and we have had a positive response to this request as they all get that this historic day needs to be as well managed and as fun as possible as it will be imprinted on the nation for years to come,” Dr Pettitt said.
“I expect that the crowd will be loud and proud, but also on its best behaviour as there will be a lot of young families.”
Good luck freo in the GF. You would be amazed how many Vic’s are barracking for you tomorrow. Its amazing the effort the fremantle supporters are making to see their team play.
I too, wanted Freo to win over Hawthorn until a member of the Freo cheersquad needed a dose of how to be humble’ when leaving Skilled Stadium after beating Geelong. I recall commenting ‘you need to win one first and then perhaps hurl your arrogant comments around’. Unfortunately not this year. I wonder if the Hawthorn supporters were as equally unpleasant to her as she left the ground on Sat afternoon??
