REPAIRS to the old Fremantle traffic bridge confirm the Barnett government isn’t planning to do anything with it for at least five years.
Before she was voted out, former local MP Adele Carles complained the Libs had set money aside to replace the bridge but took it back as state finances teetered.
She claimed to have seen reports that showed the bridge was so unstable that she refused to drive over it.
Over the next few weeks Advanteering Civil Engineers will give the bridge a spruce-up, including drilling a dozen holes into every pylon, which will be filled with an anti-fungal treatment.
The work will take a few weeks and last about five years.
