First Class

FIRST Class’ 1970s hit “beach baby, beach baby give me your hand, give me something to remember” came to mind as I strolled through this townhouse high on the Beaconsfield ridge.

Especially as I crested the timber stairs and stepped into a spacious living area looking out to sea.

Golden pine floors, white timber ceiling and white bifold shutters give a look and feel of a beach house, all the more so with the azure Indian Ocean stretching to the horizon.

From the expansive balcony you can follow the vista south of Garden Island and north of Rottnest, and take in Fremantle port and the giant ferris wheel on the Esplanade Reserve.

Now, baby, that’s something worth remembering.

One of the three bedrooms is on this level and I can attest to the views being pretty good from the bed, and even better from the third level main bedroom, where for an added bonus you get Perth city views from the ensuite.

Back on the ground floor the generous living/dining/kitchen area maintains the holiday feel, with jarrah floors, pine ceilings and more white bifold shutters, which open onto a lovely, and very private courtyard garden, a delightful space to relax on a hot day with low-maintenance raised garden beds, plenty of greenery and a huge shade sail.

With the kitchen close by I can see this being a place to enjoy dining alfresco whether with friends or alone.

Whipping up meals needn’t be a chore in the well-designed kitchen.

There’s plenty of white caesar stone benchtops, including a breakfast bar, and lovely soft-close drawers, and a spacious walk-in pantry.

With an almost entire wall of glass the ground floor open plan is a delightfully light-filled space.

When it comes to parking the Chevrolet there’s a generous two-car garage, and for those moonlight walks, South Beach is a stroll away, as are a swag of cafes and shops.
