for sharksFREMANTLE Greens MLC Lynn MacLaren will be one of the speakers at a beachside rally Sunday morning on February 8 against the Barnett government’s latest tactic to reduce shark attacks.

Late last year the WA government tweaked its imminent threat policy, renaming it serious threat, and stating any large shark spotted dawdling about the coastline during the day was fair game for armed officials.

Ms MacLaren says its a cull under another name, and reckons Mr Barnett’s harbouring a vendetta against sharks reminiscent of Captain Ahab from Moby Dick. The protest will be held at Scarborough Beach.
