THE WA Circus School has missed out leasing the old Bond Store under the shadow of Cantonment Hill. The circus performers, who are living on borrowed time in the Artsource-managed Old Customs House, had put in an expression of interest to lease the stores from Fremantle council.
They were beaten by High Street-based placemaker and event organiser Enkel, which plans to create a “creative and interactive co-operative comprised of independent oraganisations and individuals”. Enkel plans to fit out the historic building (which now boasts a giant octopus mural thanks to an urban arts festival organised by FORM).
