AN investigation by WA’s environmental watchdog has discovered the clearing of land around a Munster wetland is more extensive than first realised.
A West Churchill Avenue landowner is being investigated for allegedly flattening the edge of the wetland near Lake Coogee last November. The WA environment regulation department says its review of the latest satellite imagery found further denuded areas.
“Additional enquiries, along with a review of information previously held, is being undertaken to determine the cause,” the department said in a statement that no-one put their name to.
“As this investigation is currently under way, it would not be appropriate to comment further.”
The wetland is not accessible to the public, as private properties border it on all sides.
