For 3000 years, Pacific islanders have used the natural remedy kava-kava for its mildly sedative and soothing properties. Need time out but can’t escape to a tropical isle anytime soon?
Head to Kava Cafe in Bicton Instead. While you won’t find the Polynesian tonic on the menu, you’ll be greeted by a friendly vibe that puts you into instant chill out mode.
Under new management since the start of the year, the cafe is gaining a following with local foodies for its Five Senses coffee, delicious food, house-made ingredients and great service.
Brunch is served from 7.30am to 2.30pm and covers all bases, from the healthy to the hearty. Stand outs include house-made muesli with berry apple compote; croque monsieur; Kava Breakfast; Hash Benedict; Prawn Linguine and BBQ pulled pork sandwich.
Dinner is just as appealing, with slow beef cheeks on creamy mash, roast chicken with red wine jus and a selection of mouthwatering wood fired pizzas.
The new brunch menu will be launched on 16 June and book for the wine tasting night 20 June. For specials and upcoming events, check the website, Facebook or Instagram.
