BEACONSFIELD resident Shazar Robinson, is planning an eco-sustainability tour in December to raise funds for a “check” dam in a remote rural village in India.
Ms Robinson has recently returned from Tirzada where she helped build a first dam which will raise the water table and bring relief to 20 farmers who’ve been hit by severe drought.
The retiree, who also travels to India to spend six months working with orphans, says life for farmers is so difficult there’s been 35 suicides in the area in the five years she’s been going.
