DRIVERS who park near the river are being fined more than motorists anywhere else in the City of Melville.

Last financial year the council issued more than 1500 fines—just short of half the total number of fines across the entire city—to people parking near Canning and Swan rivers.

Drivers on Canning Beach Road collectively received 939 fines, there were 425 on The Esplanade and 231 on nearby Ogilvie Road. Cars parked on Riseley Street, across from Garden City, were slapped with 300 fines and 269 were given out on Murdoch Drive.
