THE only Frankie I know is a dog, so when the apparent trendy coolness of a Frankie sink was pointed out my first thought was of dog-washing.
The uber-must-have-sink in question is spelled Franke—a state-of-the-art German company that is apparently a byword for elegance and quality.
The square sink in question is set into a sweep of caesarstone of a massive island bench in the kitchen of this stunning Scott Street, South Fremantle home.
This three-bedroom/two-bathroom abode is modernity with a capital M, and the kitchen almost brought me to tears, with its second set of sinks, plethora of soft-close drawers, acres of preparation area—and a walk-in pantry that is actually larger than my entire kitchen.
There’s even a refrigerated drawer in the island so when guests hover around the kitchen, chilled drinks are close by.
But beware when chopping the vegies, the view across tree tops to a vast expanse of ocean and sky is so distracting it’s potentially hazardous.
Huge windows ensure the massive living/dining area is flooded with light on the most over-cast of days. And a glassed in balcony, means firing up the built-in-barbecue isn’t dictated by the weather.
Set on three levels, you’ll find the huge garage on the lower-ground floor, along with a kitchenette and a games room. Or is it just a very large storage area?
A lift—a lift!—whisks you to the upper level, ensuring heavy groceries are delivered to the kitchen with a minimum of effort.
The level in between is for the bedrooms, including the gargantuan main, with its balcony, amazing ensuite and built-in as well as walk-in robes.
Elegance and style is writ large in this home with its smoked and oiled French oak floors, artwork affixed to the wall over the stairs and a gorgeous “arty” chandelier in the stairwell that looks like a graceful silver branch.
Beaconsfield primary school is across the road—much better than expensive private schools you need to drive to—and there’s no shortage of shops nearby. And South Beach and the sailing club are a shortish stroll away.
