NOONGAR elder Marie Thorne, evicted by Homeswest for rowdy visitors, has been admitted to Fiona Stanley Hospital with severe pneumonia.
The 78-year-old former Fremantle citizen on the year moved from her Nicholas Crescent, Hilton home last week to live with a grand-daughter but was admitted to hospital soon after. Her grand-daughter Lisa told the Herald she believes the stress of the eviction played a large part in Ms Thorne’s illness.
“The way they’ve treated her has just been horrible,” she said.
Fremantle mayor Brad Pettitt, who’s been trying to find a solution to Ms Thorne’s housing woes, says news of her illness is “terrible”.
