It’s microchip month at Hilton Vet

A HERALD PROMOTIONAL FEATURE:

Protect your pet and receive a great discount during August!

Have you had your pet microchipped yet? As of 1 November 2015, it will be compulsory for all dogs and cats in WA to be microchipped. To help you, Hilton Vet Hospital is giving a big discount with every microchip in August.

Microchipping is a permanent method of electronic identification. Each chip has a unique number that is detected using a microchip scanner. The microchip number is recorded on a database registry with details about the animal and owner. If your pet becomes lost, vets, animal shelters and local councils can check your pet for a microchip and contact you via the database. The microchip itself is very small – about the size of a grain of rice and is inserted under your pet’s skin, between the shoulder blades. It’s a quick procedure that is similar to giving an injection.

Hilton Vet is running a “Microchip Month” offer during August.

“Microchips are the only permanent identification that is effective in relocating your lost pet. We get lost pets every month, and it’s so quick and easy to re-unite them with their owners. It is wonderful to see the relief and joy on the owners faces when they come to pick up their lost pet,” says Hilton Vet owner Dr Heinrich.

Reasons for getting lost can be anything from slipping out of a collar and running away, escaping through an unsecured fence or pets that got stolen.
