ROCKS were thrown at eight cars travelling along the freeway and busy roads in Jandakot and South Lake last weekend, police say.
“They’re causing serious damage, but there’s also real potential to distract a driver enough to cause a fatal crash,” says Murdoch acting sergeant Mark McInnes.
Police believe the same eight-member gang of teens is responsible for the attacks. They reportedly hid behind bushes before emerging to launch their missiles. Three incidents occurred Saturday on Kwinana Freeway in Jandakot. The remainder occurred Sunday in Elderberry Drive, Berrigan Drive and North Lake Road in South Lake. A-Sgt McInnes says rocks were thrown between 8pm and 10pm both nights. The alleged offenders are described as dark-skinned.
Police were poring over CCTV footage when the Herald went to print. If you have anything to report, call 9313 9000 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
