A Herald Promotional Feature:
Cockburn’s favourite community event – the Bakers Square Community Fiesta is being held on Saturday 24th October, 10am-4pm. Coming off the back of the immensely successful inaugural festival last year, the event is all about community connections, celebrating all that is rich, wonderful and quirky in the local region.
It has partnered with the hugely popular Garage Sale Trail and with the support of the City of Cockburn and Fremantle Ports, it promises a whole heap of fantastic opportunities, events, bargains for sale and entertainment for locals. There will be amazing food and coffee stalls celebrating extraordinary local and organic produce.
There will again be a big emphasis on youth, with a climbing wall, drumming workshops with Junkadelic, aboriginal storytelling and kids craft workshops as well as heaps of entertainment including Junkadelic, Carus Thompson and a special Great Gardens sustainable garden makeover demonstration by local sustainability gurus Chris Ferreira and Simon Pawley.
The event is all about enriching and informing the community. Rethink the Link and Save Beeliar Wetlands will provide details on the real impact of the proposed (and hugely unpopular) Roe 8 Extension. With its community commitment the event will again be raising funds for Native Ark, Syrian Refugees as well as the Hamilton Hill Community Group.
The event is open to the public and is also a Group Sellers site for anyone interested in having a Garage Sale Stall call Astrid 0487 990 081
