FREMANTLE’s most famous brothel—The Ada Rose—is for sale.

The owner would prefer to sell the South Fremantle knocking shop as a going concern but if not, the place can be bought for around $1.4 million and redeveloped.

“The property is zoned R30 and has good options for mixed-use development,” says realtor Gail Harvey.

“It would be possible to have three terraced shop fronts and a small number of apartments. It’s a good size, around 496sqm, and in a prime spot.”

Built in 1904 and on the council’s heritage inventory, it has seven bedrooms and period features, including an ornate ceiling rose, timber floors and 18-foot ceilings.

The iconic South Terrace brothel has been servicing US sailors and randy locals for nearly 50 years.

It is opposite the Seaview Hotel, tucked between Ada and Rose Streets.

We contacted the owner to see if the business will relocate if no-one buys it, but they declined to comment.
