Too scared to play

KIDS in a Fremantle street are too scared to play outdoors, or to walk to school, because of nasty neighbours.

Behaviour from tenants at a Department of Housing complex in Swanbourne Street, opposite the Fremantle war memorial, is so bad that at least one family has abandoned their home to rent in another suburb.

“We are tired of our children being too scared to play on the street,” a mother-of-three told the Herald. “We are tired of having our Sunday afternoon barbecues punctuated by explicit language and fighting that no person should have to listen to in their own yard.”

Another man says the behaviour forced his family to flee to Bicton.

Neighbours have lodged numerous complaints, and feel their concerns are not being acted upon. “We are at a loss as to what to do next,” the mum of three said.

Greg Cash from WA Housing says all complaints have been lodged and “appropriate action has been taken”.
