Sheddies bowled over

FREMANTLE’S men’s shed is a step closer to its new home.

The shed must shift to make way for a major LandCorp sustainability development in White Gum Valley: over the years a number of new sites have been mooted.

Fremantle council, which received a $350,000 grant from Lotterywest a fortnight ago to go towards building a new shed, has plumped on a site at the back of the Hilton Bowling Club.

Shed founder Bill Johnstone said they expect to be in their new home by the last week in August.

“I have to give the council a pat on the back for this,” Mr Johnstone said.

“It’s been a long journey, but they’ve really made this happen, including getting the grant application in.”
