SEEK. LinkedIn. CareerOne. Pffft. Zack Mahoney, 18, went old-school with a sheet of cardboard and a texta to land a job this week.
The stunt paid off and within minutes of standing on Dixon Road, during morning rush hour, his phone ran red hot with offers.
“I had a trial installing floorboards yesterday and I’ve got another job trial lined up tomorrow,” he beams.
“If they don’t work out I’ve got another three or four numbers to try.
“I only got one weird call from a guy having a laugh, but apart from that, it was all good.”
Mr Mahoney lives in Rockingham and has his forklift ticket and white card. He’d tried looking for jobs on the internet without success.
“I had rent to pay and my flatmate suggested I make my own sign,” he shrugs. “It worked a treat and the offers came flying in. It just shows you—sometimes old school is the best.”
