WILSON SECURITY won’t say how it will respond to Fremantle council’s decision to tear up current contracts over its involvement in Australia’s offshore detention centres. Late in February the council voted to stop doing any business with companies that profit from the offshore detention of refugees on Manus Island and Naura, citing a report that claimed “gross human rights abuses” by Wilson’s parent company Broadspectrum (formerly Transfield). Despite repeated attempts to get a comment, Wilson wouldn’t provide one, and its media department no longer takes the Herald’s calls.
