Yours for S100?

TWO little birds perched themselves on the glass balustrade of this North Fremantle apartment’s balcony, and I’m hoping they’re related to the blue bird of happiness because I’d be pretty happy winning this brand new abode.

The $1.6 million, two-bedroom dwelling is first prize in a WA Cancer Council lottery, along with a BMW and $20,000 cash.

White and sporty, the car was parked enticingly in the secure garage as we waited for the lift.

Part of the old Rolly Tasker complex on McCabe Street, this is luxury living, with nothing to do but move in, because all the furniture and fittings are included — even down to a high-end toaster and kettle and the art on the walls.

The third-floor apartment has sweeping ocean views from the huge open-plan living/dining/kitchen, where double glazing of the floor-to-ceiling doors ensure a light-filled–and whisper-quiet–space.

The massive double-door refrigerator, with a huge freezer drawer is staying, complementing the Gaggenau oven and microwave.

There’s a swag of soft-close drawers and cupboards, including a soft-close pull out pantry.

Peel back the balcony doors and you’re in alfresco heaven, with views to Garden and Rottnest Island and Rous Head, which I’m told looks amazing as dusk descends and the lights come on.

On the eastern side, the bedrooms have huge doors onto a balcony overlooking a sweep of the river.

The main has an ensuite with double vanities, in a beautiful cross-grained brown travertine, and the floor-to-ceiling built-in robes have a nifty pull down system to reach clothes from on high.

WA’s leading cancer charity, the Cancer Council relies on donations for its work in research, prevention, education and support services.

It also offers counselling, financial and legal advice, free exercise, yoga and meditation sessions for cancer patients.

Last year alone it committed almost $4 million to support the state’s top cancer researchers.

Along with the apartment there’s a swag of not-so-minor prizes, including three lots of $100,000, three cars, a caravan, a couple of cruises and a heap of stuff such as Bose speakers and a Nutribullet.

The WA lottery gives punters a 1-in-15 chance to win, while feeling good about helping fellow sandgropers. Tix $100 at ultimatelifestylelottery.com.au
