COCKBURN and Armadale mayors Logan Howlett and Henry Zelones joined forces last week to demand a $160 million Armadale Road bridge across the Kwinana Freeway.
Developers say the infrastucture is needed before investors spend $300 million.
The councils are in cahoots under the banner of Community Connect South, and are lobbying the major parties in lead-up to the looming federal election.
After a similar campaign last year, the federal and state governments pledged $145 million to make part of Armadale Road a dual carriageway.
With 20,000 more residents planned for the area, both mayors say the job’s only half done and congestion will never be addressed without the bridge.
