THE Falls Music and Arts Festival is set to take over the streets of Fremantle come January, for two days of music, art, performance, creative food and community interaction.
The annual festival started off as a small one-day show in Lorne, Victoria in 1993 and has now grown to include New South Wales and Tasmania and has been at the forefront of the east coast music scene.
Fremantle will break with the traditional Falls format and instead of a single venue, along the lines of Blue and Roots, will be across a variety of locations, after co-producer Jessica Ducrou fell in love with Fremantle.

“We had a look at the town square [Kings Square] and fantastic different venues and became quite inspired with how our show could be presented.”
The square will have the main stage, along with bars and seating under the trees, while the old Myer building will be funked up for a basement danceteria, interactive art installations and unexpected performance areas, Ms Ducrou says.
“And crowds can mass to the St John’s Anglican Church…for heavenly times.”
The eastern states Falls sees up to 16,000 a day attending, and around 8000 a day are expected in Fremantle, Ms Ducrou says
The Falls Music Festival is on January 7 and 8, 2017.
