TRYING to get its groove back the Fly by Night musicians club has turned to a slightly unusual musical inspiration; local mayor-turned DJ Brad Pettitt.

The mixing mayor will be headlining a September 9 fundraiser along with local bands The Rogues, Dilip n the Davs and Junkadelic.

The Fly’s still carrying a sizeable debt following its ousting from the Drill Hall and move to Victoria Hall, but volunteer Dave Johnson says a series of fundraisers they’ve got organised will give locals a chance to have a great night out while also ensuring the future of the club, which is gearing up to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

The Fly on High fundraiser is on Friday September 9 at 7.30pm and tickets are $23.50 from http://www.flybynight.org
