Fremantle BID: Focus on Fremantle CBD

Fremantle BID 1

Fremantle CBD has it all… From Bathers Beach to King’s Square, High Street Fashion and the Terrace cafe strips, there’s always something to bring you here.

The Fremantle Business Improvement District (or BID) was created to focus specifically on the CBD of Fremantle.

“We work to develop activities and bring the businesses together to create a more vibrant CBD and promote visitation and movement around our city,” says BID Board Member Karl Bullers.

Fremantle has the only Business Improvement District currently operating in WA. With a growing membership of over 350 members, it is the only organisation with a sole focus of the Fremantle CBD, rather than the greater Fremantle area.

Fremantle BID has a board of directors, all unpaid, very experienced people who provide a significant amount of time to BID activities. They all have a passion for Fremantle and want to see Fremantle continually improve.

“The board, like our members, has a direct interest in a strong and vibrant Fremantle. We are a mix of small and big property owners, small and medium business operators but most of all proud and passionate Fremantle people,” Karl adds.

Jenny Marslen – energetic, positive and genuine – is the face of the Fremantle BID, working tirelessly with local business owners to help them plus make Fremantle a better place.

Just some of the BID’s activities you would have seen are:

• the uplighting of High Street and other and precinct activation projects

• the enormously popular school holiday activities such as Funopoly & the Freo Penguin Trail

• securing major events like the Winter Festival for Fremantle

• the purchase and permanent installation of public artwork from “Sculptures at Bathers”

• Shop window decorating projects

• and a range of other large and small activities plus many more to come!

With the constant changing landscape of local CBD business the BID has formed a partnership with the Fremantle Herald to help keep its 350+ members and visitors to Fremantle informed of activities and issues in this fantastic place that is Fremantle.

This Focus on Freo CBD feature will appear in the Herald every second week.

“We encourage all new businesses to reach out to our team and join as a member, membership of the Fremantle BID is FREE for all CBD businesses and property owners. Importantly we encourage all members to get involved with BID activities. We are stronger and more effective together! Most importantly we want to hear from you with your great ideas on improving the Fremantle CBD for visitors,”  says Karl.
