Novel activities

SCAVENGER hunts, ancient crafts, sex tips, and writing a whole novel in a mere month, term four at The Meeting Place community centre is kicking off with a gaggle of events and oddities.

There’s a whole month of events for NaNoWriMo, a crudely wrangled flock of phonemes standing for “National Novel Writing Month,” challenging participants to write 50,000 words across November.

The end results aren’t always a finely crafted opus, but it’s intended to help struggling authors get over writer’s block and used to putting words on the page, along with meeting a deadline.

Local muso Dave Warner shares his tips for word slinging on October 25, and then there’s a group kick off on November 1 with frequent group write-ins along the way.

There’s also a slew of personal growth events, from Singing Meditation to an expert “love lab” and a two session sexology series on “how to lubricate your sex life,” with tips on feeling braver, more creative, generous and playful in the bedroom.

It starts this Saturday, October 8, so get in fast
