A renovated ripper

WHEN the owner showed me the pre-renovation photos of this White Gum Valley home I was absolutely gobsmacked.

Originally an ordinary weatherboard and fibro abode, it’s been transformed into a gorgeous cottage, with a mix of old and new making it family friendly.

The classic white picket fence is the first indication of more garden delights to follow.

The front verandah is the perfect spot for watching life go by on Samson Street, without being on show yourself.

Inside are many art deco features, including geometric ceiling roses, two fireplaces and a gorgeous chocolate brown jarrah floor.

The dwelling has been rejigged to created a fourth bedroom and a spacious open plan, and a spacious modern laundry and alfresco deck have also been added.

The old kitchen was ripped out and replaced with a contemporary one, which includes a floor-to-ceiling double pantry and a large prep area on the island bench/breakfast bar.

This kitchen is a pleasant light-filled space thanks to the floor-to-ceiling bifold doors.

Open them to bring the outdoors in, or step onto the timber-deck and enjoy the gloriously lush garden.

There’s grass for the kids to play on and winding paths lead to sunny nooks and shady crannies, including a huge phalanx of bamboo.

A rear studio accessed from Carrington Street is an ideal workshop, or it could be transformed into a home office or granny flat.

With two street entrances there’s even room to park a boat or caravan.

The owners are planning on travelling so some furniture and potted plants can be negotiated as part of the sale.
