OF all the buildings along Cliff Street to crash into, this poor learner driver picked the only one with chunky shipping bollards out the front.

Staff at the front counter of MSC Shipping’s new West End headquarters were given a fright Thursday midday as the VW Golf mounted the curb and came to a crunching halt a metre or so from the glass doors.

Fireys and ambos attended, but the young bloke behind the wheel seemed more embarrassed than permanently damaged. A manager from MSC told the Herald they’d be taking up Cliff Street’s safety with Fremantle council as a result of the crash, as near-misses are a daily occurrence.
