New Nepalese restaurant nourishes body & soul
“Namaste” is a commonly spoken greeting in Nepal. And if you’ve ever taken a yoga class, you may have heard the phrase spoken at the end. It’s a respectful salutation, and roughly translated means “The divine in me bows to the divine in you”. It’s the belief that there’s a divine spark within each of us, located in the heart chakra. It represents the the idea that we are all one when we live from the heart.
This idea of living from the heart is in full practice at Namaste Kathmandu Nepalese Restaurant. Owned and operated by the Bahadur family, who you might know from South Freo’s much loved Darbar Restaurant, Namaste aims to serve the community, filling their bellies and warming their hearts with mouthwatering, nourishing food. Everything is made to order, using the best quality ingredients full of freshness and flavour. From the first bite, you know this is food cooked from the heart.
“We very much love what we do. Our guests come in with hope, and they leave with happiness!” said Bom Bahadur.
An intoxicating blend of Indian and Tibetan influences, Nepalese food is hearty and satisfying. From tender marinated meats grilled to smoky perfection, to curries, Tandoor specialties and the very moreish dumplings (Momos), the menu has something for everyone. There’s loads of delicious vegetarian and vegan choices and any dietary requirements are catered for. The Sunday night buffet from 5-10pm is a great way to go, as it gives you the chance to try a variety of curries, rice, naan, salads, condiments, desserts plus one free wine, beer or soft drink for just $25 adults and $12 children (kids under 8 eat free). And if your little darlings haven’t developed the taste for curry as yet, there’s a menu just for them with the usual favourites.
Whether you’re hosting an intimate dinner party at home, or organising a large celebration, your guests will love indulging in authentic Nepalese cuisine.
