IN the 1794 version of The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe, the old gal “whipped all their bums and sent them to bed”.
Perhaps it was an early example of post-natal depression, but then living in a shoe, with nowhere to go for five minute’s peace, would push any mum over the edge.
That wouldn’t be a problem living in this four-bedroom home on Riggs Way in Hamilton Hill.
Private oasis
The old woman and her brood would revel at the thought of all those bedrooms, three bathrooms, two lounge/sitting areas, and a pool.
“Pure luxury,” they would shout with joy.
No need to send hyperactive kids to their rooms when they misbehaved, just open the front door and let them loose on nearby Clontarf Hill, or wander down to South Beach for an energetic swim.
One lounge room is at the front of the home, with double glass doors leading to a long, lean dining/kitchen.
The other is at the rear, with sliding glass doors onto the pool.
Cooking for a large brood would be no problem in the generous, re-modeled kitchen, with its soft-biscuit brown cupboards and drawers, and dramatic black bench tops.
There’s so much bench space you could set up a production line of helpers.
Or you could head out to the covered alfresco area and crank up the barbecue.
High walls create a private oasis, and the mature trees on Clontarf Hill seem to peep over the brickwork for a breathe of CO2.
Huge windows in the two downstairs bedrooms ensure plenty of light, and both have built-in-robes, while the main is ensuite.
Bedrooms three and four, along with a bathroom are on the second level.
Weekly shopping is as easy as a two-minute drive to the South Fremantle Shopping Centre, or if you can’t be bothered cooking, you can drive a bit further and go for a meal at the cappuccino strip.
