A HERALD PROMOTIONAL FEATURE
Maurizio Pocino is passionate about authentic Italian food. Starting out at the tender age of 15, Maurizio began his apprenticeship in Rome, learning the culinary arts and working in some of the Eternal City’s finest restaurants. While at culinary school, renowned Chef Andrea D’Alessio noticed Maurizio’s natural talent in the kitchen and hired him to work at the famous La Colombina Ristorante. Maurizio continued to hone his craft over the years, becoming the Executive Chef at Al Cavallino Bianco.
In 2007, Maurizio made the move to Australia and settled in WA. After working in well known eateries, such as Lo Zucchero and Pizzaca, Maurizio realised a long held dream and opened his own trattoria – simply named Pocino’s. A trattoria is an Italian word is used to describe an eating establishment that is not as formal as a ristorante, but less rustic than an ‘osteria’. At a traditional trattoria, the food is modest but plentiful and follows regional recipes. It’s where folks in Italy go for hearty, simply delicious food bursting with flavour. Now locals can experience the style and cuisine of an authentic Italian neighbourhood trattoria, in the heart of Myaree.
At Pocino’s everything is made by hand, or as they say in the old country ‘a mano’. Maurizio believes you must cook from the heart to make the best tasting food, keeping it honest, simple and always with the freshest ingredients. You can expect the best quality service and food, delivered by an experienced team whose number one priority is to give customers a fantastic experience. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and fully licensed, Pocino’s is a great place to catch up with friends and is also perfect for the whole family to gather.
