Part of Fringe World 2018, The Rhythm Spectacular will take you on a journey, from early New Orleans jazz, to the bright lights of Vegas and onto the pop songs of today. Adam and Lucky will present their own original compositions and combine to perform the music of Louis Armstrong, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, George Michael, Ed Sheeran, Ray Charles and Frank Sinatra to name but a few. The fabulous repertoire contains classics such as “All about that bass”, “Viva Las Vegas”, “Let’s get it on” and many more unforgettable hits that will have you dancing in the aisles. The songs will be backed by The Velvet Playboys – one of Australia’s finest bands, who will dazzle you with their full horn section, unique arrangements and background vocals.
Lucky Oceans is a one of a kind performer. Famous for his wizardry on the pedal steel guitar, Lucky plays many styles of music – jazz, blues, country, western swing, folk and bluegrass. After headlining at major festivals around the world, Perth now has the opportunity to catch Lucky performing live. Adam Hall and the Velvet Playboys recently won the BluesNews – Best album of the year (Germany), the 2014 Fringe World Best Musical performance WA (and runner up 2017).
The knockout line up includes: Lucky Oceans – lap steel, pedal steel, squeezebox, vocals and everything else; Adam Hall – trumpet and vocals; Mark Turner – sax, guitar and vocals; Kate Pass – bass and vocals; Anthony Dodos – trombone and vocals; Adrian Galante – keys; Bronton Ainsworth – drums. This will be music at its best, so bring your dancing shoes and get ready to have a good time!
