Cult British travel doco maker Michael Portillo’s mustard-coloured pants made him an easy target for paparazzi-on-the-spot Tim Johnson, who spotted the former Conservative MP filming a scene from his upcoming Australian series near Freo’s Roundhouse on Sunday.

Portillo’s virtually kept SBS afloat, with viewers in love with the ageing dandy as he flounces around Great Britain in a train, visiting glassblowers and candlestick makers, in Great British Railway Journeys.
