MELVILLE could get its first fenced dog park.
There are none in the city and at their last meeting councillors voted for a report to be prepared on a list of suitable locations.
Piney Lakes, John Connell Reserve and Burke Drive’s riverside parkland are among the potential siteds being considered.
Cr Nicole Robins, who tabled the motion, says a few councils around Perth have fenced dog parks, but there’s not many close to Melville.
“City of Melville residents have contacted me asking about the possibility of the city providing a fenced dog exercise area as there are none provided in the local area,” she says. “Dog exercise areas can assist in creating a sense of community among those who use the facilities.”
Cr Robins says dog parks in other councils have attracted people from far and wide, and she wants any proposal to go out for public consultation.
