S & L Salvage and Demolition is the Bunnings of the salvage world.
A place where you can literally find everything – including the kitchen sink.
S & L even has its own ambassador – an adorable chocolate labrador named Moose who roams the vast site.
The business has 11 staff and specialises in demolitions and interior strip outs.
Any valuable and unique goods are brought back to sell at the shop/yard in O’Connor.
The business stocks a wide range of timber, metal, bricks, high quality window and door frames, and kitchen units.
You can also find taps, sinks and ovens, and even old collector’s items like radios and first-edition prints.
During a snoop around I discovered some bags of firewood and an assortment of pants and flowers.
Since taking on the business in 2013, Ben and Sue Fairclough have completed some demanding and memorable jobs, including the old Katanning Flour Mill and the historic Shamrock Hotel.
Everything that couldn’t be salvaged used to be sent to landfill, but recently S & L has become more environmentally friendly and reduced its carbon footprint by separating unsalvageable materials into “clean piles” of recyclable metal and timber.
