FREMANTLE council has this week called for tenders for the removal of the yellow artwork Arc d’Ellipses from historic West End buildings.
A letter sent to affected building owners says the scope of works include removing the yellow foil, fixing any damaged surfaces and repainting as necessary.
The council’s project manager, Clare Smith, said various methods were tried on a building-by-building basis to work out the most effective and sympathetic strategies for removing the artwork.
Each tenderer would have to attend a mandatory site meeting.
“The city has placed high important on quality and will monitor the works throughout the removal and mediation process, to ensure the expected finish has been achieved,” Ms Smith wrote.
“We anticipate the works to commence mid-November and our aim is to complete them by Christmas.”
