A GIANT inflatable cow, a model of a fracking well and a dedicated team of volunteers created a colourful protest under the Fremantle Rainbow last Saturday morning (March 30).

The action organised by Lock the Gate and the Fremantle based Gasfield Free Metro Action Group was designed to raise awareness that fracking is about to start in WA and highlight plans by fracking company Buru Energy to give fracking flowback fluid to cattle in the Kimberley.

“This plan to dispose of contaminated flowback fluid by using it as drinking water for stock is outrageous and a sign of the total disregard that fracking companies have for water, waste disposal, other industries, the environment and community standards,” said Lock the Gate WA spokesperson Jane Hammond.
