AGPS would have been handy as I wandered around this vast, but elegant four-bedroom Applecross home.
The magnificent entry foyer is larger than many an apartment, and a massive chandelier hanging over an impressive wrought iron staircase spotlights gorgeous honey-gold American oak parquetry flooring.
French chateau
There’s a guest wing on the ground floor, with french doors onto a balcony.
On the other side of the foyer is a gracious sitting room with a decorative gas-powered coal-fireplace.
Timber-framed, glass doors look out onto a courtyard garden worthy of a French chateau with an imposing water feature, and a pool, sheltered from view by a row of manicured Manchurian pear trees.
Double doors lead to the kitchen and informal dining area.
The lavishly appointed and uber-generous kitchen has granite benchtops and splash back, and solid American oak cabinetry.
“Knock, knock.”
Who’s there is a Miele Knock2open dishwasher, just knock twice and it opens automatically. Say what!?
The owner reckons her home is a “good party house”, and with a delightful Mediterranean courtyard, and a killer gabled roofed barbecue kitchen area with a wood fired pizza oven you can see why.
On the second level a gargantuan sitting room separates the main bedroom from the children’s wing.
The palatial main bedroom is on this level, and almost floor-to-ceiling windows take in river and city views.
The ensuite is also generous with double, granite-topped vanities, and a bidet. And stepping into the generous walk-in-robe, lights came on as if by magic.
I’d been puzzling over bedroom numbers, when I opened what I thought was a large cupboard and discovered the kids’ quarters.
A huge study/play area has a built in desk, the two huge bedrooms have their own balcony with river and city views, and there’s a spa and double vanities in the bathroom.
Wine lovers and gym junkies are well catered with a a climate-controlled wine cellar, and a gym off the four-car garage, which also has a work/storage area.
