FREMANTLE residents can sell their unwanted stuff and help the environment by signing up for a stall at this month’s Community Garage Sale in Fremantle.
The event is part of the annual Garage Sale Trail, where more than 400,000 people rummage through two million items at 15,000 garage sales across the nation.
It is Australia’s biggest reuse and community event, and Fremantle mayor Brad Pettitt said it supports the city’s target to reduce waste and achieve a 70 per cent community recycling rate by 2020.
There will be coffee and food trucks, entertainment for the kids and the city’s FOGO team will be there to answer questions about the new Food Organic Garden Organic recycling system.
A collaboration between Fremantle and East Fremantle councils, the event will be held at the recycling centre on Montreal Street next Saturday (October 19) from 8am-1pm.
