No it’s not a boring school lesson, but a mindfulness session held by Fremantle charity Yogazeit.
SCHOOL kids across Perth are feeling the benefits of a wellbeing blitz by Fremantle charity Yogazeit. As part of mental health week, the not-for-profit held mindfulness sessions with more than 650 upper primary and high school students, teaching them breathing exercises and yoga to improve their physical and mental health.
Schools visited included Lakeland Senior High School in South Lake.
“Project Peaceful Mind was a huge success. Within the first three days of publishing the Free Mindfulness Incursions we had over 20 schools apply,” says Regina Cruickshank, executive director of Yogazeit.
“Thankfully – with the support of Neami National – we were able to increase the number of planned incursions, finally enabling over 14 cohorts to enjoy the benefits of quieting the mind.
“The post-program evaluations from the schools were mind-blowing.
“Everyone truly enjoyed the sessions and we’re hoping to be back real soon – continuing their journey of Mindfulness to support mental Health.”
