Waves of calm

People enjoy some free meditation classes at Fremantle’s South Beach.

IF you’re struggling to get back into work and “normal life” after the festive break, then some free meditation classes at South Beach could just be the ticket.

The classes are based on Sahaja Yoga, which was founded in 1970 by Nobel Peace Prize nominee Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi.

She called Sahaja Yoga a pure, universal religion; teaching participants how to experience self-realisation through thoughtless awareness and mental silence.

The free South Beach classes are run by Sahaja Yoga Meditation facilitator Chris Szydlowski.

“Suitable for beginners as well as experienced meditators, participants will learn how to deal with relentless over-thinking, reduce stress and achieve inner balance,” he says.

“There are no strenuous physical exercises, postures or special clothing required and the practice is suitable for all ages and levels of physical fitness.

“The workshop will include an introduction and the experience of peace and relief that comes with self-realisation.”

Sahaja Yoga Australia has been offering  free meditation classes and workshops for more than 30 years.

Classes are taught by experienced practitioners as a way of ‘giving back’ to the community.

“Deep within every person is a place of silence and peace,” Mr Szydlowski says.

“Learning to meditate allows us to experience that aspect of ourselves and to bring it into our daily lives.

“When we learn to meditate, our lives slowly change for the better.

“We become more peaceful and other people respond to that in a positive way.

“One peaceful person can have a soothing influence on those around them”.

Sahaja Yoga Meditation by the Sea classes will be held on South Beach in Fremantle every Saturday 7am – 8am until the end of February.

Just follow the dune walkway from the South Beach Café towards the beach and join in.

  1. This is great. I’ve been practising Sahaja Yoga Meditation for years and being able to get together on the beach like this is amazing.
