Restaurant of the people moves home

Aft er a half-decade stint on the Cappuccino Strip, Sandrino has fi nally returned to its home tucked away from the main drag in the Little Market St Piazza. 

It’s where it all began for one of Freo’s favourite cafe restaurants and owners Sam and Jelena are looking forward to enjoying the old Sandrino vibe with their staff  and patrons once again. 

“Sandrino has been a Fremantle institution for more than 25 years,” they said. 

“We fell in love with Fremantle 20 years ago and when Sandrino became available we jumped at the opportunity to put our signature style into the business – we haven’t looked back since,” they said.

With excellent service and impeccable food, Sandrino’s traditional wood-fi red pizzas have always been a Fremantle staple, and with increased volume in their ovens they’ll be serving up new and interesting wood-fi red dishes including steaks, half chickens, and seafood. 

Good pasta in Fremantle is a given if you know where to go, and at Sandrino the focus is on never letting quality slip. 

“Our handmade gnocchi, creamy beef cheek ravioli and fresh seafood pastas are all top quality even during high volume weekends,” said Sam. 

“Our seafood platters are awe-inspiring for one person or two and off er a wide selection of seasonal catch piled high on giant platters.” 

Sandrino provides a variety of dining areas, an unpretentious and family-friendly atmosphere, and great ambience, as an ideal spot for friendly catch ups, family dinners, large functions and fi rst dates.

“We’ve taken the best things about our true home and added some new improvements including leather booth seating, views of the giant wood-fi red pizza ovens, intimate tables for two, and long tables for the family. We honestly feel that this building has it all!” Sam said.

Away from the bustling tra ffi c, their large walled-in alfresco area and balcony overlook the iconic and much-improved Piazza. 

“We truly feel we have come home. As soon as we opened there was a giant sigh of relief. Everything just felt right,” Sam said. 

And by all accounts, the reception and feedback about their return has been fantastic. 

“We’ve had so many people just dropping by to say congratulations and welcome back. People love the venue and have missed us not fi lling it. It feels like we’ve moved home and have all our neighbours back,” Sam said. 

“We’ve come home and want to recommit to our customers. We know we lost a few of our regulars when we moved to South Terrace in 2015, and we want to bring them back. 

We want to show them we are still everything that they used to love, and that we are committed to Fremantle, and plan to be here for the long term.”
