River beauty

THE Esplanade in Mount Pleasant is one of the Chook’s favourite spots.

You get protection from the strong winds found on the Applecross side and it’s a beautiful spot for walking or cycling along the river.

It’s not too built-up and has just enough facilities including DOME Cafe, which is a great spot for a bite to eat or a coffee.

There’s a real variety of houses on The Esplanade with everything from mock Tudor to daring new builds.

If you’re after a riverfront apartment, this three bedroom 2.5 bathroom abode could be the perfect fit.

It’s only one of five in the prestigious Espy complex and was designed by renowned architect Shayne Le Roy.

Situated on the first floor, you can look out from the open plan living/dining/kitchen area at the gorgeous treetops and relaxing water below.

Go one better and kick back on the large balcony with a glass of wine and enjoy the ever-changing hues and recreational activities on the river, with everything from rowing teams to speed boats passing by.

Hosting dinner parties in this apartment will never be an issue with an absolutely massive chef’s kitchen.

It really is huge with lovely natural wood cabinets and drawers contrasting with the stone benchtops and stylish splashback.

I really like the island bench, which is a bit of an architectural talking point with its L-shape design. A nice flourish that really sets off the kitchen, which has all the top-end appliances including a Vintec wine fridge, Miele dishwasher and pyrolytic oven. Storage will never be a problem with a walk-in scullery.

The main bedroom is a cracker with a big luxurious ensuite and access to a private courtyard.

The other two bedrooms are spacious and have built-in robes, with one also having access to the courtyard.

The home includes a laundry, Bose sound system and an outdoor gas bayonet, electrical outlet and plumbing.

The complex has great facilities with a heated plunge pool, bathing deck and state-of-the-art gym.

Parking won’t be a problem as the flat comes with two secure bays. This 215sqm apartment is only about 300m from all the shops, cafes, restaurants and small bars at Canning Bridge including Clancy’s Fish Pub and the IGA.

Mount Pleasant Primary and Saint Benedict’s School are nearby, and you have quick access to the freeway and the city, or alternatively catch the train at Canning Bridge Station.

This is a lovely apartment in a boutique complex in Mount Pleasant.
