Great park

I AM writing to say how impressed myself and my husband have been with the residents of King William Street (Florence Park end).

Our son and his partner moved there approximately two years ago and have recently had a baby.

The neighbours have been incredibly generous in cooking meals for them and recently we were invited to a tree planting ceremony in Florence Park for our new grandson.

Florence Park is so beautifully cared for by the neighbours and the community spirit is outstanding.

We want to thank everyone for inviting us to the ceremony and welcoming us into this amazing community.

It is so lovely to feel a part of the family of Fremantle.

A dump?

WA’S Garden Island to become effectively NATO’s dumping ground for nuclear waste.

Josh Wilson MP and David Scaife MLA backed the defence minister and minister for the defence industry announcement that WA’s Garden Island will become the temporary dump site for nuclear waste from the USA and UK nuclear subs.

In every other global situation, the temporary label for nuclear dumping has lasted many decades.

The thin end of the wedge, the tip of the iceberg.

This is politics done the Labor and Coalition way.

Party politics driven, rather than what the community want.

Do we want politics in Fremantle done differently?

The Ed says: Just to be clear, the approval from the federal department is for low-level radioactive waste from items such as gloves, and not any spent nuclear rods.

Feels scammy

I AM a resident of Spearwood and a few days ago found a note in my mailbox which I found concerning.

A commercially, (bulk) printed piece of junk mail which purported itself to be a hand written note from a real estate agent, (Cottesloe based), who had personally called into my property to speak with me about their client who is looking for a property similar to mine.

I find it dishonest to the same degree as any of the telephone or internet scammers, as it could easily be taken as being ‘real’ by someone whose eyesight was a bit off or whatever.

The REBA Act Code of Conduct 5.(1) states; “An agent must act fairly and honestly”.

This would seem to cover this sort of behaviour but I wonder if REBA / REIWA actually enforce their ‘rules’?

When I contacted the agent who ‘signed’ the publication they seemed only concerned that perhaps I had a ‘No Junk Mail’ notice on my mail box. Apparently misleading business practice was of zero concern.
Have ‘we’ really fallen this far?

Silent Shadows

Introduction

In the vibrant city of Perth, where dreams shimmer against the skyline, I found myself ensnared in the shadows of a nightmare. Seven years ago, I married a man who appeared to be my perfect match, but beneath his charming facade lurked a predator.

The Illusion

Our life seemed flawless from the outside, but behind closed doors, he revealed his true nature—a meth-addicted sex worker. His deception grew insidious as he gradually drained our finances, manipulated e-statements, and exploited my trust, exacerbated by my ADHD that made it hard to discern his stealthy thefts.

The Catastrophe

The nightmare escalated when he viciously struck me with a car, leaving me with devastating brain injuries, post-concussion syndrome, and PTSD. His cruelty knew no bounds as he not only stole from our accounts but also seized my car and possessions, and used our identities for his fraudulent schemes.

The Mental Toll

The mental harm is profound and enduring. Living with a fake persona for so long has shattered my sense of self and ability to trust. His continued portrayal of himself as the victim is abhorrent, leaving us abandoned and struggling to rebuild.

The Parenting Dilemma

His neglect and abuse make him unfit to be a father. How do I reconcile teaching our child something positive amidst his deception, sex work, theft, and fraud? His love-bombing of a new partner complicates matters—how do I warn them without being dismissed?

The Financial Strain

Financially drained and emotionally exhausted, I struggle to afford essentials, let alone my daughter’s music lessons. Despite his own interest in music, he offers no support. I’m left to save up for lessons at a local school of music; where it once brought joy it now underscores our turmoil.

The Uncertainty

I don’t recognise the man I married—his true identity remains elusive. It’s terrifying not knowing who he truly is and when his reign of deception will end. How can I protect myself and our child from further harm?

The Resilience

Despite the adversity, I refuse to be silenced. Sharing my story is my weapon against the shadows — shedding light on the predators who thrive in darkness. I stand with others who have suffered, urging recognition of the signs of abuse and advocating for justice and support.
