Insta Chook

We’ve relaunched our Fremantle Herald/Perth Voice Instagram page with some fab content!

You can now enjoy the best photos from our weekly editions (including snaps we didn’t have space for in the paper), exclusive video, zany cartoons, front covers and more.

•  The first ever edition of the Fremantle Herald

We’ll also be sharing some long, lost gems from the Herald archives. We’ve got memorable photos stretching back decades and classic cartoons by Jason Chatfield, who illustrated Ginger Meggs and went on to work for The New Yorker and MAD Magazine.

We kicked things off with some pages from our first ever edition on November 30, 1989. It includes a “Meet the Team” with young cadet journo Brian Mitchell, who went on to become editor and is now a federal MP in Tasmania (it all went downhill after he left the Chook ;-)).

• In 2010, Liz Warman and Michael didn’t want Mt Pleasant to resemble North Sydney

• Fremantle’s Greg James with his sculpture of New Norcia bishop Dom Salvado, back in 2010

• Fremantle MP Josh Wilson was a bit of a hunk back in the day (Ben Affleck?)
