A COOLBELLUP family have gone all out with the Christmas decorations this year to shine a light on autism.
The verge at the Culbertson family’s Hargreaves Road home is ablaze with Christmas trees, reindeer, elves and – of course – Santa Claus as part of Aspect’s (Autism Spectrum Australia) Shine for Autism program.

• The Culbertsons have gone all out to shine a light on autism this Christmas.
Hayley Culbertson said her three-year-old son Henry, who’d been diagnosed with autism in October, was just at the age to understand the Christmas tradition.
“My parents used to decorate our house with lights when I was a kid, the Santa cut-out we use was actually there, so he is 25-plus years old,” Ms Culbertson said.
“Continuing the tradition now that I have kids is such a joy.”
Aspect partnership officer Ainslie Robinson, who’s also an autistic adult and parent, said apart from raising awareness, Christmas light displays helped advocate for a more inclusive Australia.
“Whether it’s bright, bold displays or calming, sensory-friendly displays, everyone can celebrate the festive season in their own way,” Ms Robinson said.
