In Tangney, Labor’s Sam Lim faces off against Liberal candidate Howard Ong, which is expected to be a tight race given Labor only holds the seat by a 2.8 per cent margin.
This time, Albo did in fact pop into the electorate in the days leading up to the election, with a visit to Winthrop Primary School alongside Mr Lim and WA premier Roger Cook.
“Since my election in 2022, I’ve been working hard every day as the Member for Tangney to be the best local representative I can be, delivering for my community, and I hope to receive their support to continue that,” Mr Lim said.
“Throughout the campaign I’ve really loved being out in the community every day talking to local residents…since my election, I’ve knocked on over 30,000 doors and in that time, I’ve made meaningful friendships and have strong relationships with community groups, not for profit associations, and our schools.
“As a result, the people of Tangney know that they have a Member of Parliament who is ready to listen and engage with them.”
Mr Ong did not respond to the Herald’s requests for comment.
Eric Hayward will be running for the Greens, alongside Legalise Cannibis’ Phil Leslie, One Nation’s Steve Kefalinos, and James Rai from the Australian Christians.
