Locals to help shape Baysy

THE City of Bayswater is handing the mic back to locals as it finalises its blueprint for the next decade.

The draft Strategic Community Plan 2025–2035 is now open for feedback, and the City wants to hear from residents, workers and visitors on what matters most.

The plan lays out the City’s long-term vision and will guide decisions on infrastructure, services and investment—ensuring future initiatives reflect what matters most to the community.

• The City of Bayswater is working on a new strategic plan and wants input from locals.

Mayor Filomena Piffaretti says the draft was built on a solid foundation of local input, gathered during last year’s Shape Baysie consultation.

“More than 1,000 people took part in the first stage of engagement, sharing their hopes, ideas and priorities for the City of Bayswater for the next decade,” she said.

Feedback

“This feedback has helped shape a draft plan that captures our shared vision and guides how we will respond to the needs of our growing and changing community.”

The plan focuses on five key areas: Social, Built, Natural, Economic, and Leadership and Governance, with a strong emphasis on creating a connected, innovative and sustainable City.

Progress will be tracked through the City’s rolling Corporate Business Plan, which aligns services, projects and budgets with the community’s evolving needs.

Key initiatives from Bayswater’s last strategic plan included leveraging Metronet developments to improve connectivity, advocating for local interests in state infrastructure projects, and maintaining neighbourhood cohesion amidst urban growth. The plan also emphasised strengthening local businesses and enhancing public spaces.
