Hamilton Hill hotspot takes out WA’s Best Steak Sandwich… FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW!
Carrington’s Bar & Grill in Hamilton Hill has once again sizzled its way to the top, officially crowned Perth’s Best Steak Sandwich for the second year in a row!
The team from Carrington’s claimed victory at the 2025 AHA & Little Creatures WA’s Best Steak Sandwich Competition, held during the high-energy AHA Hospitality Expo at Crown Perth this week.

L-R Ash Cranenburgh, Toby Cranenburgh, Jass (Chef), Lorene Cranenburgh, Judd Cranenburgh and Clancy Cranenburgh.
In a state-wide battle of the buns, Chef Jaspreet (Jass) Singh wowed judges with his mouth-watering creation, The Wild Thing — a towering beauty stacked with 200g of juicy scotch fillet, candy bacon, beef bacon, Swiss cheese, rocket, tomato, onion, and a rich house-made BBQ sauce, all hugged by soft Turkish bread. And just in case that wasn’t enough to make your stomach growl, it’s served up with beer-battered chips and a crispy fried pickle (lovingly known as a “frickle”).
“We would love to thank the community for wonderful support throughout the competition,” Said Carrington’s owners Ash and Lorene. “Its an award that demonstrates our entire team’s commitment to serving good quality food, community support and spirit.” Back-to-back wins don’t happen by accident. Jass, who also cooked his way to the top last year, clearly knows his way around a grill — and the people of Perth are loving it.

The judging panel, which included AHA WA CEO Bradley Woods, social media foodie Lachie Sheridan (aka Perth Dude Food), Tourism WA’s Melissa Forbes, and Lion’s Danny Connolly, had their work cut out for them, with top-tier sandwiches flying out of kitchens from across the state. But it was Carrington’s that stole the show once again.
“Carrington’s and Chef Jass have taken the humble steak sandwich and turned it into a flavour-packed cele-bration of everything great about Aussie pub food,” said Woods. “This competition highlights the passion and creativity in WA’s hospitality scene — and Carrington’s continues to lead the charge.”
