Fremantle rally

LOCAL activists are putting the finishing touches on signs and props ahead of a Fremantle rally for peace in Palestine tomorrow (Sunday September 21). Groups including Pro Palestine WA, Stop AUKUS WA, IPAN and Nuclear Free WA have joined forces under the banner Walyalup for Palestine – Peace and Justice. The event starts at Pioneer Park, opposite the train station, at 11.30am.

The march sets off at noon along South Terrace and Norfolk Street before finishing at the Esplanade at 1pm. “On this International Day of Peace organisers invite the Walyalup community to demand a stop to the genocide and arms trade with Israel and support the urgent call for peace in Palestine and the wider Middle East,”

Stop AUKUS spokesperson Leonie Lundy said. “Pertinent to Walyalup, they also call for a nuclear free and peaceful Indo Pacific – to cancel military ties with the US and cancel AUKUS.”
