Shocking show

IF you like biting satire, then Shock Jocks will be right up your medium wave street.

The show mercilessly lampoons Australia’s commercial radio industry, a world where toxic personalities are given microphones and audiences, where shock is rewarded with fame, and where accountability is rare.

For over a decade, Marvin Silver (Shane Adamczak) and Kelly (Sarah Reuben) have ruled the radio airwaves—wildly popular, endlessly controversial, and never afraid to cross the line.

But when their on-air antics spark real-world consequences, the cracks in their carefully constructed personas split wide open.

Shock Jocks is a dark comedy that dives into the double lives of commercial radio stars, exposing who they really are when they think no one is listening.

Created by award-winning theatre-makers and actual former radio hosts Shane Adamczak (Base.fm, Vehicle, The Ballad of Frank Allen) and Sarah Reuben (ABC Radio, The Hypotheticals, I’ll Tell You In Person), the show blends lived experience with the twisted humour behind some of Perth’s most acclaimed Fringe hits.

Shane Adamczak is multi-award-winning writer/performer based in Perth, who has made a name for himself as one of WAs most skilled comedic performers.

A 2003 WAAPA graduate, over the last two decades he has become a stalwart of the West Australian theatre and improv scene.

Sarah Reuben is an award-winning writer, performer and theatre-maker.

She co-wrote The Hypotheticals, Lower The Bar and I’ll Tell you in Person, and is creator of the web series Deadly Tales.

Shock Jocks was produced by Weeping Spoon, a multi-award-winning independent theatre company in Perth.

Co-founded in 2006 by a group of professionally trained actors, Weeping Spoon Productions has become one of the most prolific theatre companies in Western Australia.

Showing as part of Fringe World, Shock Jocks is at The State Theatre Centre in Northbridge from February 11-15. For tix and more info see fringeworld.com.au.
